BALLS WOOD field meeting

Balls Wood is a large, varied woodland with ponds and sunny rides, mainly hornbeam but with some birch, aspen and conifer, which our group visited for the first time in 2018.  It is managed by the Herts & Middlesex Wildlife Trust who bought it from the Forestry Commission about 20 years ago.  Park at Grid ref. TL348105, along the side of the track known as Elbow Lane (the old Ermine St) which runs south from London Road (B1197) at Hertford Heath, SG13 7PY.
